It was decided that moving was to be done car load by car load. The first two car loads were moved on April 28, although a few things had been moved prior to that. Typically Stephen and Marja would pack up the next week's load during the week so that they were ready on Saturday morning. Then, of course, the weather had something to do with things too! If it was pouring with rain (which sometimes happens in Vancouver too!) then the trip was postponed. In fact luck was with them, and the only occasional problem was actually wind. Even that problem did not last all day. Occasionally trips were made mid-week too.
Marja, Stephen and their friend, James, discuss where to put the
rest of this week's load.

The roof racks of both cars are loaded too. Stephen's car is ahead
of Dan's here.
This is the inside of Dan's car, but before leaving both cars are
equally filled. Sometimes Marja has to share her space with boxes.
Stephen's boat is soon packed to the gills too.
In fact, as you can see, there is no space left. But there must be -
surely it is not all on board!
Just a little bit left to squash on board. This time there was no
room for Marja, and she traveled across on the bow of the boat.
Soon it is all unloaded on the North Steps of the Island.
Now all that has to happen is that it all has to be moved horizontally 500 metres and vertically about 100 metres to reach the first floor.
The first night spent in their new home. May 20, 2001.
Stephen checking to make sure that it will be dark enough in the
morning, not to wake him early.
Of course the first floor was shared by a little lumber the first
night too.
But later that weekend the lumber was all moved, and the kitchen
cabinets were installed where their bed was the first night.
